Luk San Mo Gwoon

Preserving Authentic Ip Family wing chun Gung fu at two locations in Pennsylvania , U.S.A.

What is Wing Chun?

Wing Chun is a system of Chinese gung fu that is rooted in the science and physics of bodily motion. Although predominently a striking art, it does contain Kum La (seizing and controlling techniques) as well as weapons. Wing chun theory does not seek to clash with an opposing and potentially greater force, in a fashion commonly seen in many other striking arts. Instead Wing Chun exponents use skeletal alignment, leverage and geometrical positioning to redirect, deflect and even borrow from an opponents use of brute force. As such, the movements of it’s forms were never designed to be flowery or visually appealing. Its simplicity, economy of motion and sensitivity of touch enhanced and developed through the practice of Chi Sau (Sticky hands), combine to create a particularly good means of self defense for the average person both male and female.  This system is direct, practical, aggressive and ideal for those who do not posess great Physical strength or athletic ability.
